three reasons why i liked star trek:

1. it was a prequel. i love background stories. i love going into the childhood of characters, learning about their pasts, what makes them who they are in the present and why they act the way they do.

2. it had a creative twist on an almost-super-hero-esque story. i like superhero stories, but what i like more is if it's changed and made into a completely original story in itself. an example of this would be 'smallville.'

3. it was about best friends. maybe it's because i haven't had a real best friend since elementary school, but the tie between two characters as best friends is my favorite type of bond. even more, relating to reason number one, i like the background stories of best friends. how they start as enemies or neighbors or something and then turn into people who've got each other's backs.
